چکیده

A set of computerized tools to support a performance oriented parallel program development is integrated in the CAPSE (Computer Aided Parallel Software Engineering) environment. The respective tool support for performance engineering activities covers performance prediction in the design phase, analytical or simulation based performance evaluation in the detailed speciication and coding phase, and monitoring in the test phase. The N-MAP tool, as part of the CAPSE environment and dedicated for early performance prediction, intends an incremental development process of parallel applications such that implementation design choices can be investigated far ahead of the full coding of the application. N-MAP, from a skeletal representation of a parallel SPMD program that covers just those program structures that have critical performance impacts, in a compilation step automatically generates a discrete event simulation program, the execution of which exactly reeects (and generates) the behavior of the skeletal parallel program. Various performance related investigations can be conducted based on the trace statistics coming from the simulated execution of the skeleton. N-MAP has been successfully used for the development of numerical applications with a static structure of task occurrences. In this work we demonstrate how inherently dynamic task communication structures can be analyzed using N-MAP, by incrementally developing the implementation of a general purpose distributed discrete event simulation engine based on the Time Warp protocol. The dynamicity of the behavior of Time Warp is known to pose a stress case for any performance prediction methodology. We show how dynamic behavior is characterized in terms of probabilis-tic workload parameters, based on which N-MAP can generate adequate performance predictions.

Planned Focus-on-form Instruction in Task-based Language Teaching: The case of EFL learners’ oral grammatical accuracy performance

This study investigated the effects of planned focus-on-form instruction (pFFI) on developing oral grammatical accuracy in Iranian English EFL learners. To this end, 60 lower-intermediate EFL learners studying English in a private English language institute in Tehran, Iran, were randomly assigned to two classes. Both classes received a task-based instruction on grammatical points elicited in or...

Performance Evaluation of Dynamic Modulus Predictive Models for Asphalt Mixtures

Dynamic modulus characterizes the viscoelastic behavior of asphalt materials and is the most important input parameter for design and rehabilitation of flexible pavements using Mechanistic–Empirical Pavement Design Guide (MEPDG). Laboratory determination of dynamic modulus is very expensive and time consuming. To overcome this challenge, several predictive models were developed to determine dyn...

Exact and Approximate Inference for Annotating Graphs with Structural SVMs

Training processes of structured prediction models such as structural SVMs involve frequent computations of the maximum-aposteriori (MAP) prediction given a parameterized model. For specific output structures such as sequences or trees, MAP estimates can be computed efficiently by dynamic programming algorithms such as the Viterbi algorithm and the CKY parser. However, when the output structure...

Dynamic Performance Prediction of Brushless Resolver

A mathematical model based on d-q axis theory and dynamic performance characteristic of brushless resolvers is discussed in this paper. The impact of rotor eccentricity on the accuracy of position in precise applications is investigated. In particular, the model takes the stator currents of brushless resolver into account. The proposed model is used to compute the dynamic and steady state e...
